Getting Your Link Submitted To SEO Directories

Posted by roger houston | Internet Marketing | Thursday 25 February 2010 11:47 pm

There are three ways to submit your website link to SEO directories; DIY, paying for manual directory submission services and buying automated directory submission software. Neither one will work if you don’t prepare your website beforehand for inspection and scrutiny by search engine webmasters. You could probably get some measure of success by using the automatic directory submission program, but in the end, the webmaster will simply delete your link and you’ll end up where you started.

Search engines accept and rank websites based on the following criteria:
1. The number and quality of reciprocal links from reputable sites;
2. The relationship between the URL and anchor text; and
3. Historical factors.

Getting a good reciprocal link from a popular related website is one way to add points in your favor. The more good links you have with related websites, the more points you get. However, one should over-do it. Having too many links is just as damaging as having too little links with good sites.

The relationship between the domain name and the anchor text should be consistent. If your heading/ anchor text keywords clash with the domain name, you should expect to find your web link thrown out unto the cyber streets.

Historical factors take into consideration the time spent on gathering links to other websites, the age of the website, the number of links that the site gets on a daily basis, and whether the links were changed or not. If the reciprocal links haven’t been changed for several months, these could be seen as dormant links and the value would be demoted. If the web site has been around for years and the back links and reciprocal links change too slowly, that could indicate that the website isn’t popular enough for the search engine to consider putting its link in the directory.

Whether you opt to automate directory submission, hire someone to do it for you or do it yourself, you better make sure that your website is ready before you even bother submitting it. If you think that your website fits the criteria, go ahead. Install that software and start submitting your link to directories. Chances are good that your website is going in the right direction.

We need a place away from Singapore (preferably to those places quiet and natural place), but have no cash. We need to get proper treatment for my husband and child. They’ve got strange illnesses. They get hallucinations when they can in touch with certain smell, fumes (whatever chemical gases or bioterrism ??). Their bones got ‘clicking’ sounds with any movement and sometime feel like collapsing.
Till now I’ve not gotten a doctor to see them as I’ve no money. Worse, they got ‘needle’ pricking feeling or ‘burning’ sensation in their eyes when someone SMS or download certain codes using handphones. We suspected that they have gotten a chip implanted in their brains that acts as a medium for transmitting (similar to those SIM card in handphone) We needed a brain scan to confirm this Anyone, lawyers, human rights organizations etc or organizations can help us out??!!

Laptop and Notebook Buying Guide

Posted by roger houston | Marketing Products | Sunday 21 February 2010 1:35 am
Bob Shanty asked:

A laptop is the ideal replacement for your desktop computer. The greatest advantage of a laptop is its portability. Unlike desktop computers, you can easily move a laptop around your home, carry it to work or class and take it with you when you travel. Laptops are a big investment, so before buying one, you should consider many factors like the manufacturer, performance and features.

What kind of laptop user are you?

A home user wants all the features of a desktop PC in the form of a notebook. If you are a home user, then choose a notebook which is easy to carry and comes with the most basic computer applications. Students should opt for an affordable laptop which is light and durable. Frequent fliers need slim notebook models with long-lasting batteries. A business user should purchase a laptop with plenty of hard disk space and advanced security features while a gamer needs a fast processor and the latest graphics card.

What are the different kinds of laptop computers available?

Laptops for Entertainment:

Multimedia laptops are always more expensive and heavier than your standard model. These laptops come with a powerful processor, abundant memory and a large hard drive. You can use these laptops as a mobile DVD player, MP3 jukebox and a digital photo album. If you buy a TV tuner card, you can even use your multimedia notebook as a television set. These notebooks are ideal for PC gaming.

Laptops for Business:

Laptops especially designed for business use are ultra portable. These laptops are durable and more secure than the basic laptop. They are best suited for consumers who are always on the move. A good business laptop should offer a fingerprint reader or SmartCard support to prevent data theft. These notebooks usually have advanced computer applications and wireless capabilities, so you can work even when you are away from your desk.

Laptops for Home:

The home user typically uses a laptop for checking mail and browsing the web. These laptops perform general tasks. A high speed processor is an unnecessary luxury and tends to be wasted on most home users. Opt for a notebook with at least a 14-inch screen and a comfortable keyboard. These laptops are generally heavy, weighing more than 4 kg at times. Their average battery life is less than three hours.

What constitutes a good laptop?

Ergonomics:

If you are going to use your laptop extensively, then you need to be comfortable with the keys. Try a laptop with slightly larger keys to avoid straining your fingers from typing. Most laptops come with a touch pad or a tracking pointer instead of a mouse. If you are a PC gamer, buy a separate mouse which can keep up with the fast-paced action on screen.

Operating Systems:

The Windows XP Media Center Edition is a good operating system for entertainment laptops. It makes optimal use of multimedia features like TV tuners, radio tuners and media players. If you are a professional who prefers Apple notebooks but are concerned about compatibility, check out the dual boot models by Apple that allow you to install and run Windows as well as Mac OS X. If you prefer PCs, Microsoft Vista is an ideal alternative to Windows XP. Vista comes in several editions, including Vista Home Basic and Vista Home Premium for the home user, Vista Business for the professional and Vista Ultimate for the best of both worlds.

Memory and Storage:

All data and applications are stored in the RAM (random access memory). Many laptops commonly use 256 MB of RAM. Most business laptops and entertainment laptops come with 512 MB or more of RAM. The more RAM you buy, the more data you can store.

The hard drive stores all programs and files. For the average home user, a 20 GB hard drive will more than suffice. If you buy a laptop for entertainment or business purposes, a 60 GB hard drive will better serve your needs. Some entertainment laptops even have multiple hard drives for better performance. Hard drives come with different speeds. Most laptop hard drives have a speed of 5,400 rpm. However, faster hard drives go up to 7,200 rpm.

Display:

The size of a laptop is based on the size of the screen. Screen size starts as small as 10.6 inches and goes up to 20 inches diagonally. Most laptops have an LCD monitor. However, if you are using your laptop for CAD, a CRT monitor will serve you just as well, if not better. The screen resolution determines the crispness of your image. A 12.1 inch display uses WXGA resolutions (1,280 by 800). A 14 or 15 inch display typically uses WSXGA+ (1680 by 1,050), although a small number of notebook computers use WUXGA (1,920 by 1,200) instead.

Processor:

It is more difficult to upgrade a notebooks processor than it is to upgrade a desktop computer. For this reason, you should buy a processor with a speed that will best suit your use. Also, it is wise to choose a processor with less battery consumption. Processors with 1.4 to 1.6 Ghz are preferred by most users.

Battery:

Lithium ion batteries are commonly used in laptops. The average battery life is about 3 hours. It takes around 75 minutes to fully recharge a lithium ion battery.

Graphics Card:

A graphics card, sometimes referred to as a video adapter, is responsible for generating the images you see on a laptops display. For businessmen who need to do lot of presentations, a graphics card containing 32 or 64 MB of dedicated memory is the right choice. There are also specially designed cards for gaming. These cards are expensive and should be avoided unless you require excellent graphics.

USB Ports:

Laptop computers come with at least one USB port so that you can connect peripherals to the notebook. Recent models have a FireWire connection that lets you transfer digital information from camcorders or MP3 players.

Optical Drives:

Most laptops come with either a CD-ROM (compact disc, read-only memory), a CD-RW (compact disc, re-writeable) or a DVD-ROM (digital versatile disc, read-only-memory). The DVD+RW/+R with CD-RW is a combination drive which will read a CD or a DVD and write data to a DVD as well.

Modem:

Laptops are available with integrated modems for dial-up connections, Ethernet ports for cable internet and DSL and wireless modems for Wi-Fi connections. Many business laptops also have a cellular wireless modem so you can browse at broadband speeds with just a mobile phone signal.

New Cure for Hassle-full Computing

Posted by roger houston | Computing Power | Tuesday 16 February 2010 10:13 pm
Warren Franklin asked:

Let’s face it for many being on the computer is hassle-full. Being on the computer isn’t fun and productive any more.

Whether your home or business computers are online or offline over time they seem to slow down and many times crash. Being on the computer isn’t fun and productive any more. What is it that

causes these problems?

It’s my experience that the average individual knows a lot about his/her chosen field and very little about computer repair services and protecting information stored on a home or business computer.

Most of us are looking for a simple easy way to work or play on our computer. Unfortunately, computers have become complicated, necessary tools. Yet, it seems, several months after purchasing a computer it begins to bog down and run slower. You might experience mysterious freeze ups and crashes. Once this problem turns into a nuisance, generally, the computer is taken into a computer repair service shop where it will be out of commission for a week or so and a few hundred dollars spent to clean it up.

Most people don’t understand the relationship between a slow running computer and cyber-crime. Yet, the relationship is huge. There is a huge need to develop safe computer practices and rely on

an emerging computer industry called “Personal Computer Services.”

One of the ways I like to describe computer safe practices is by comparing it to safe dental practices. We are encouraged to develop an everyday practice of flossing and cleaning teeth, right? We do this to keep the teeth clean and avoid dental problems like infection and tooth decay in the future. In other words we do this to avoid dental hassles. We want a hassle-free dental experience.

Now, when you compare best dental practices to keeping your computer running like new, you need to implement similar measures. Only this time instead of brushing and flossing you have to develop safe computer practices including purchasing the computer repair service money can buy. On top of that, you’ll also need to set up a safe practices guideline for everyone in your family.

A slow running computer or a computer that crashes frequently may be a sign of Malware (Trojans, viruses, worms, and other malicious code) on your computer. These hacker tools not only can be used to steal sensitive information from your computer they slow your computer down or even cause computer crashes. Unfortunately, traditional over-the-counter computer protection products don’t keep up with this growing problem. If they did would we continue to have these problems?

Over the last three years there’s been a huge shift from curious hackers to professional hackers creating devious methods to steal proprietary information from computers like yours. This evolving threat is costing individuals and businesses tens of billions of dollars every year. V. McNiven, an advisor to the U.S Department of treasury has stated, “The proceeds from cyber-crime are now greater than the sale of illegal drugs.

These evil hackers continue to find more devious ways of stealing financial and proprietary information. It is important that every individual, family and business have a computer repair service plan in place to protect themselves from these cyber terrorists.

You might be surprised to learn that computers that don’t go online are vulnerable through file sharing from infected flash drives, cds and floppies. These devices, when infected, can install scrambling software or logic bomb software that opens up the possibility of extortion to get your proprietary information back.

A 2007 PC Magazine survey of 42,000 PCs worldwide released last September showed the top speed killers. The problems included:

· Over 52 percent of the PCs surveyed were clogged up with spyware

· Over 60 percent of the PCs surveyed had un-optimized Internet settings slowing the Internet down and even signaling that spyware and other malware have secretly stolen portions of your bandwidth to run on your PC.

· Surveyed computers also contained an average of twelve serious registry problems per unit that may have been caused by spyware and other malware.

Incredible, many of these computers are supposedly protected by the over-the-counter products that aren’t doing what they promise to do. So how can individuals and small businesses protect against identity theft, fraud and extortion? How can they get their computers back to running like new again?

Here are six crucial steps to protecting your computer and making it fun and productive again:

1. Keep your computers patched. Microsoft has automatic patch updates. Make sure are signed up to receive them.

2. Use professional enterprise grade anti-virus and anti-spyware at the email and web gateways. Install a professional grade by-directional firewall to guard against backdoor threats.

3. Use sender-authentication technologies, such as Sender Policy Framework (SPF) to make phishing far more difficult since – In theory – phishers will only be able to send their spam from “unapproved” domains.

4. Develop and enforce a password policy. This will make passwords difficult to be guessed. Use a different password for each situation. Make sure these passwords are changed frequently. If you use one password for every web site, for example, and a phisher manages to steal it, all of your online activity is at risk. Sophos, an enterprise grade Internet Security Company, recently conducted a business poll and discovered 41 percent of the respondents were using the same password for all web sites.

5. Keep an eye on the advice from organizations promoting safe computing. Many of their web sites will list the latest threats, and give advice on how to protect your home and business against them.

6. Always report suspicious activity.

Just as important, find a computer repair service that offers “Personal Computer Services.” Your personal computer service should include online repair at no additional cost. The end result: hassle-free computing making being on the computer fun and productive again. With the right computer repair service, using computers at home and at work should be hassle-free allowing you to focus more on your home and business activities.

Industrial LCD Monitor: an introduction

Posted by roger houston | Costly Film | Monday 15 February 2010 3:10 am
Kilian asked:

LCD monitors used in industrial applications need to be purchased only after careful research and consideration of the required features. It involves quite a major investment in order to buy an industrial LCD monitor. It is therefore almost imperative to make a list of requirements. It’s also important to get an idea about the major manufacturers in the field that have a significant role to play in the market.

Another important factor, which one has to decide, is whether to go for an LCD with a flat display or a Touch Screen LCD. However, at this juncture the advantages of a touch screen LCD monitor do tip the scales a bit in its favor.

Advantages of touch screen industrial LCD monitors:

Touch screen technology has been playing a great role since the early 1970s. It has also become extremely popular in all these years. It is indeed a key asset in the field of industrial computing as it offers quite a number of advantages over its conventional counterparts. The fact that touch screen monitors act as an input device as well as an output device, makes it even more viable. One does not have to ask for a separate mouse, monitor or a keyboard while using a Graphical User Interface. It is so because the Touch Screen monitor does the work of all three. In industrial applications, touch screen LCD monitors are more durable and they are also often resistant to dirt, oil, grease, etc., which prevail in these environments.

While selecting a touch screen LCD monitor, it is really important to remember in which application it would be used, where it would be placed and of what size the monitor needs to be.

The big players in the market:

The big guns in the market are Sony, Samsung, Dell, and a few others. Samsung has a range of industrial monitors of SyncMaster series which are based on the technology known as TFT active-matrix display technology. The monitors are available in diagonal sizes of 15 inches to 46 inches. The buyers can choose from as many as 124 different models which come in great viewing details, vibrant colors and clear picture details.

Dell has more than 12 different models of LCD monitor that range from diagonal sizes of 15 inches to 24 inches. Like Samsung, these models are also based on TFT active matrix display. Their resolutions range from 1280×1024 to 1600×1200.

Sony has more than 70 different types of LCD monitors; with more than 15 varieties with different diagonal sizes. Apart from anything else, these LCD monitors are soft on eyes and do not cause eyestrain.
